In April, I hit 125% of my quota.
In May, I hit 200%.

Back-to-back months of exceeding quota—and I’m not sharing that for applause.

I’m sharing it because the shift that got me there might help someone else in the same seat I’ve been in.

It came down to one simple decision:

I stopped obsessing over quota and started focusing on what I could actually control.

For a long time, I felt the pressure of that looming number.
Every day I’d think, “I need to hit quota.”
That kind of pressure isn’t motivating—it’s paralyzing.

So I shifted my mindset.

Instead of fixating on the outcome, I locked in on the inputs:

  • Getting people on the phone every day
  • Having real, value-driven conversations
  • Embracing the tough calls (because they make the good ones sharper)
  • Building relationships without overthinking the result

I can’t guarantee a close.
But I can control how many people I connect with.
I can control how I show up.
I can bring curiosity, energy, and clarity to every conversation.

And that’s when the momentum started.

Day after day, those conversations added up.
Over time, consistently hitting (and surpassing) quota became the byproduct—not the obsession.

If you’re in sales and feeling that weight:
Zoom out. Focus in.

Re-center on what you can own today.
The results?
They’ll come.
